Chicago vs Minnesota - June 1, 2019
Long-time rivals Minnesota came to town to face a Swans team keen to get some revenge after their nationals lost the previous year. The game started fairly evenly. Cliffy and Joe Pi held the fort down back and AJ was running amok in the midfield. Unfortunately we couldn't make the most of our offensive opportunities, and Minnesota took a half time lead. Andrew Do's influence coming off the bench gave the team a much needed spark, showing great attack on the footy through the middle. Unfortunately though, by three quarter time things were not looking good, facing a 27 point deficit. However, a superb rally in the final quarter saw us get within a couple of goals and almost steal victory. Drew Garnaut provided a strong presence up forward as one of the highlights. In the end, Minnesota kicked the couple of goals they needed to steady the game and take the win by 23 points. A reasonable performance against the reigning Div II champions, and with a better start and more accurate kicking next time they're definitely beatable.
